Mandau, Dayak, Borneo, Indonesia.

A mandau is a sword used, by the Dayak tribes from Kalimantan, when hunting heads and as a machete in daily life.

This is a very fine antique example with an elaborately engraved and relief carved bone handle with aso motifs and complete with it's original scabbard, attached horn amulet and side knife.

Condition: wear and use, min. dam., missing rattan, oxidation……

Materials: wood, iron, deer bone, horn, rattan, rope and small piece of mother of pearl.
