Staff, Dayak, Borneo, Indonesia.

This is a fine old staff used by the Dayak tribes from Kalimantan, Borneo Island. The shaft is carved from a piece of bamboo and colored with red pigment and the middle shows some fine incised dayak motifs. The lower part and the handle are made of dark hardwood. The handle is decorated with a carved snake with two heads, fine fabric and beadwork.

It measures 90 cm - 35.4 inches long.
