Comb, Ashanti, Ghana.

This is a fine Ashanti comb with nine teeth, handle in openwork design, on both sides decorated with incised ornaments the upper part carved with a woman sitting on a stool, with scarification marks on the cheeks, the neck carved with rings, wearing a necklace with glass bead.

Wood, honey brown patina, traces of kaolin, min. dam., one small tip of a tooth is missing.
