Shaman hat, Nepal.

Rare example of Nepali Shaman hat. Nepali shamans - Jankhri & Dhami who are spirit mediums and shamanic healers often have headgear with bird feathers or porcupine quills, kauries and coins attached. The trisule, an iconic symbol for Shiva, at the crest is also frequently incorporated into their costume. Often those shamans are from the Tamang (and perhaps also Magar) ethnographic groups in NW Nepal.

Materials: cloth, porcupine quills, kauries, iron and coins.
