Dual-spout vessel, Caribbean, Suriname, South America.

The Caribbean are the largest Indian group living in Suriname. Their pottery is the work of women. From a young age the females are initiated by their mothers and grandmothers into this practice.

This is a rare Dual-spout Vessel depicting two animal heads. It is made of baked red clay and decorated with simple geometric designs in black and red (engobe).

Condition; good, general staining, consistent with age and tribal use, no repairs or restoration.
